Ashley Elliot

Ashley brings 15 years’ experience advising patient capital investors in the energy, infrastructure, healthcare, agribusiness and technology sectors. He has advised on $5 billion of transactions involving companies and projects across 35+ countries, in addition to supporting companies launch first-of-their-kind products and secure transformational sales.

His expertise lies in helping CEOs and principal investors to execute differentiated strategies in markets on the cusp of change.

Prior to Portico, Ashley co-founded Sofala Partners, an Africa-focused frontier markets advisory firm, exiting via management buyout after 6 years of 100%+ year-on-year growth. Before this, he served as Senior Analyst at Control Risks, a global risk consultancy, and as Global Liaison for the Global Impact Investing Network. He began his career in the Office of the Director of Strategy at the World Bank Group.

Ashley’s investment and risk advisory work has included support to a range of multinationals, trading houses and financial institutions, including Standard Bank, Macquarie, Actis, BP Plc, and Diageo. He  has advised a number of Silicon Valley firms on international expansion — including Uber, Netflix, and Mastercard — in addition to supporting leading organizations in development finance and philanthropy, such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and British International Investment. 

Ashley holds a BA in Social and Political Sciences from Cambridge University and an MA in International Relations and Economics from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.

He has authored publications for the International Finance Corporation and provided commentary to The Financial TimesBloomberg, Reuters and BBC News. Ashley is a founding Trustee of the Climate Action Trust and of COMPASS Ghana, a palliative care charity improving end of life care in hard-to-reach communities.
